藤江です。現在、ORCAにて実運用中で、レセプトその他をBrother MFC8820JNで
印刷しています。ですから必ず動く筈ですので頑張ってみてください。
僕のとった方法は、

のとおりです。ただし、型番が輸出機と違うようで、Brotherのサポートに聞いて
MFC-8840D for CUPSで代用できることを確認しインストールしました。
僕はCupswrapperとPPD fileを両方インストールしましたが、PPDファイルが
あるので　Cupswrapperは必要ないはずです。実際、Brotherのもう一台のプリンタ
HL-4050CDNを薬情印刷用にカラー印刷してますが、PPDファイルのみでCupswrapper
はインストールしていません。CUPSのプリンタ選択画面に出てくるということなので
どこかのケアレスミスと思われます。
